Ideally located at Martigny, right with in the crossroads of international transalpine railway lines, our competence center, OCTOFER, specializes in bogie overhaul.

Within a modern, fully equipped 3’000 m² workshop, we meet the needs of the most discerning companies.

Our History, the origin of Our Know-how!

  • 1906

    The Martigny – Châtelard, narrow-gauge company (MC), inaugurates its railway line, including a rack-rail section with a gradient of 200 ‰, Strub system, and a 3rd rail for power supply.

  • 1908

    The line is extended to Chamonix – St-Gervais – les-Bains-le-Fayet, including an adhesion section with a gradient of 90 ‰ on French territory.

  • 1964

    Internal revision of all rack-rail bogies and bogies axles of the company’s rolling stock.

  • 1996

    Inauguration of the first interoperable F-CH Z800 series equipment. The company qualifies as the sole rack-rail bogie revision unit for SNCF on the St-Gervais-Le Fayet – Martigny line.

  • 1998

    MC becomes the only revision unit for all narrow-gauge rack-rail and adhesion bogies in France.

  • 2000

    Foundation of Transports Martigny et Régions TMR, through the merger of MC and MO (Martigny-Orsières, standard gauge), thus gaining access to the standard gauge bogie market.

  • 2000-2018

    Progressively, TMR gains a reputation in the most specific markets for the revision of narrow-gauge rack-rail bogies and wheelsets.

  • 2018

    Inauguration of the OCTOFER industrial workshop in Martigny, covering an area of 3250 m². TMR is now capable of sustainably meeting the qualitative and quantitative demands of a diverse clientele.

  • 2021

    An SNCF audit now authorizes TMR to manufacture and refurbish narrow-gauge axles, on the basis of the EN 13261 standard.

  • 2024

    Laying of the foundation stone for our future standard gauge rolling stock maintenance center, TMR OCTOFER, which will include the installation of an underfloor wheel lathe.

Our Know-how and Skills

⚙️We anticipate the challenges related to evolving standards, legislation, and new technologies.
⚙️Since March 2021, we have been certified ECM (Entity in Charge of Maintenance) for functions 1-4 and are therefore qualified and authorized to work on the maintenance of bogies and their components for all types of rolling stock.
⚙️We are the only service provider accredited by the SNCF for the overhaul of meter-gauge bogies, including their components, particularly wheelsets axles, in accordance with EN 13261.
⚙️We are certified at CL1 level, in compliance with the EN 15085 standard for the welding of railway vehicles and components. Our work is supervised by our in-house welding engineer (IWE).
⚙️We invest in training of polymechanics to ensure continuity of our know-how through a targeted program spread over four years of apprenticeship.
⚙️We also provide timely door-to-door transport and handling of bogies and subassemblies by means of our TMR trucking service.

Inauguration of the Railway Bogie Overhaul Competence Center on January 18, 2018

Faced with the significant growth in demand and the tasks entrusted to it in terms of overhauling rack bogies, TMR SA has decided to embrace the future by creating a centre of expertise at Martigny: OCTOFER. An investment of 18 million Swiss francs was allowed for an 3’250 m² workshop, fully equipped and dedicated to bogie overhaul activities.

TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESS - MACHINERY AND TOOLING

The workshop was designed and equipped by our own staff under the supervision of engineers from our TMR Civil Engineering Office. The experience gained in overhauling bogies of all types and any consistence has resulted in a facility ensuring a continuous and modular technological flow. It is characterized by a logical sequence of workstations, each dedicated to a specific stage of the process.
